First run

The first time you run axom, setup starts on its own.

Setup

  1. Scan. Axom reads your GPU and memory and shows the whole X1 lineup: which tiers fit, and which one it recommends. Run axom scan any time to see this again.
  2. Where the model runs. Run it on this machine, or on the Axom Network.
  3. Download. The chassis, its leaf, and two small helper models (a router and a memory re-ranker). Every file is checked against its SHA-256 before it's used.
  4. Web search. Pick how Axom searches the web. See Web research. You can change this later with axom search.

Your first session

sh
axom # a session in this directory, full-screen in the terminal
axom "one question" # ask once, print the answer, exit
axom ui # open Axom in your browser

Sessions belong to the directory you start them in. Run axom in a project folder and it picks up where that project's last session left off; axom --new starts fresh.

TIP

Axom's runtime keeps running in the background after you leave, so the next session starts instantly. It frees the GPU after 30 idle minutes. axom status shows what's loaded; axom stop shuts it down.

Switching tiers

sh
axom switch x1-light # install another tier and restart into it
axom init --tier x1-nano
